Finding Aid for the Records of the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission

The Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission (FCIC) was established in 2009 by Section 5 of the Fraud Enforcement and Recovery Act (PL 111-21). The 10 Commissioners, appointed by congressional leadership, hired a staff of more than 80 tasked with investigating 22 specific aspects of the financial crisis. The Commission held 19 days of public hearings across the country. Staff interviewed more than 700 people and collected millions of pages of records in paper and electronic form from government entities, financial institutions, and businesses.
